About DeAnna
I love language. I love its power, its beauty, its history. But I also love, you know, eating, so after earning my B.S. in Communication I opted for a “real job” in administration and database programming. Through the years, I’ve worked as a corporate trainer, a project manager, and a content manager; but wherever I went, I inevitably became the in-house wordsmith.
In the early 2000s this natural tendency (plus the freelance writing and editing I’ve been doing since the late 90s) evolved into a full-time editorial and content management role at ProjectConnections.com. That multifaceted position gave me a deep understanding of content management and strategy in online settings, as well as domain knowledge of project management, business analysis, and a variety of related topics. In 2016 I dedicated myself full-time to my freelance business, until a long-time client convinced me to join her organization in 2022. These days I’m back to part-time freelancing, but that doesn’t mean I love it any less.
My writing and editing portfolio includes blogs, books, newsletters, presentation scripts, copywriting, press releases, editorial columns, training scripts and manuals, offering documents, and more. I completed the UC Berkeley indexing course in 2021 and now offer that service as well.
Clients praise my accuracy and rapid turnaround, as well as my ability to help them polish their text without losing their unique voice. I try to keep things lighthearted and fun. My feedback style is probably best described as “straight up, with a twist.” It can be intimidating to have someone comb through your work looking for problems, so I do everything I can to make it a positive and constructive experience. I always let you know what you’re doing right, and I strive never to do violence to your work or your words. Your edited text will sound like you, not me; I am not the author, merely an assistant. My goal is to help you look your best while reaching out to your audience through the awesome power of language.
